KOKODA BATTLE IN MINIATURE

Here is a Photoshop enhanced picture from a WW2 Kokoda Track game I played yesterday. The figures were all metal 28mm and the scale of the game was 1 figure equals one man. This was the second part of the battle of Kokoda when the Japanese were attacking a smaller force of Australian militia. It is part of an ongoing campaign. The fighting was all supposed to be happening at 0200 hours in the mist and rain, hence my enhanced image. The figures in the photo are those that were on the table. The jungle is aquarium weeds and looked quite effective. The Japs won the game convincingly. There will be a game in this ongoing campaign about once a month. I will post photos after each one.

'VIVE LE REPUBLIQUE!" PLASTIC FRENCH

Here is the first batch of Victrix 28mm hard plastic French 'Napoleonic' that I have finished. I have painted these as troops for the Revolutionary Wars. Nice figures, very well detailed and offering multitudes of variations limited only by imagination. The ripped trousers and patches are my additions.

Another Zulu War conversion from 28mm Perry plastic ACW cavalry. This one is the Newcastle Mounted Rifles, 14 of who were at Isandlwana.

Immortal Greeks

Below is a picture of my efforts of painting the plastic kit produced by Immortal.  They are well proportioned and there is plenty of parts to create variations.  These gents are meant to depict the period of the Persian Wars.  The water slide transfers are very nicely done.  You need to cut close to the image though to ensure that there are no bubbles or creases from the curve of the shield.  They should blend in OK with the Foundry and Ral Partha figures I have already, although their shields are slightly larger.  The box contains an excellent pamphlet explaining the weapons and armour of the different periods of Ancient Greece.  The only figure I didn't use was the piper, although a wonderful figure was just a bit small and looked too adult for my liking.  Overall, they were great fun to paint and look even better in formation.

ZULU WAR MOUNTED TYPES

In addition to a squillion Zulus I need to put together the much less numerous British lads for the fray at Isandlwana. I have begun to paint up the mounted fellows. Using Perry 28mm hard plastic ACW cavalry and Wargames Factory Zulu War British infantry I have put these fellows together. Once again converting hard plastic is so easy.

Here are my latest plastic Vikings. I must say I am enjoying painting these.

PIKE AND SHOTTE ARMY NEARING COMPLETION

I have been continuing to rebase for FOG pike and shotte rules the 25mm ECW army I inherited from my friend Paul Johnson. I am nearly finished. I now have six Troops (12 figures each) of horse and five Regiments (20 figures) of foote. I have stuck with Paul's original fist motif for all the infantry flags and used basic coat colors to identify the infantry regiments. Here then are Johnson's Buff Regiment of Foote, Blew Regiment of Foote and Yellow Regiment of Foote. Not pictured are the Green Regiment and Red regiment. I now need to do the artillery and the dragoons for which there are numerous figures and models. If there is a wargamers heaven hopefully Paul is enjoying watching the reincarnation of his army.
