Fi, Fimir, Fo, Fum - Classic Citadel Chaos - for fun

I've been collecting these wacky dudes for about 2 years. Trying to pick up figures here and there to build up a raiding-party size force. I really didn't know much about these but they passed the 'hmm, interesting' test.

My main aim was to collect at least one of each of old metal range. Not wanting to pay through the nose, I've taken my time and I think I've managed it (I didn't consider the limited edition version because it is a bit small). The remaining figures are the good old HeroQuest board game plastic figures that aren't too hard to find and make up the numbers.

After much thought I decided green skin was suitable for the fighty types and brown skin for the magic characters. Definitely a nice change and a chance to practice painting techniques I don't normally use.

I kept to my usual basing style as I'm not much into skulls and things. All on 40mm square magbases from Shogun. Not a fan of the original GW bases.

Hope you like the photos.

Overall look at the raiders

Witch-hag Meargh with her ancient wrinkles and cold blue eye

3 Fianna Fimm - elite warriors

Fimm warriors make up most of the ogre-sized force

Red eyes on the Fimm give away their blood lust
More angles of the Fianna Fimm with bone hard tail-maces

Fimir Nobles - well armed and armoured and nasty up close
Magic trio. Two green-eyed Dirach mages flank the powerful Meargh
Smooth tails are a give away of their non-fighter status

28mm Albert and his bodyguards

Here is 'Fat Albert' (Abdul Fatimu) and his loyal bodyguards. Albert is a character in our on-going early medieval campaign and I have wanted to paint up his retinue for quite some time. I recently came across the GW minis for the guards which looked perfect and purchased them. I painted them this week and here they are guarding their master. Albert is a Reaper figure.

Old School Citadel Wood Elf Army - so far....

Hello again,

I haven't had much time this year for painting and posting so I hope this makes up for it.

My old school Wood Elf army as it stands; probably about half of what it'll end up being. I was inspired by the army done by the Masterworks Guild. I've never painted fantasy before so it was a nice change of pace. Finding the models and putting together units is half the fun. Stripping and tidying old figures and breathing new life into them is also satisfying. The figures are all 20-30 years old.

The totals are:
3 mounted leaders
2 units of spears (20 each)
1 unit of swords (20)
2 units of archers (30 each)
1 unit of lancers (10)
1 unit of horse archers (10)
5 Zoats
10 Dryads
4 Treemen (inc 'Durthu')
4 Great Eagles (inc 'Lord on Great Eagle' - one of my favourites)

A healthy start to the army. I'll finish it off...one day...

Hope you like the pics.

Cheers,
Mick
