The Royal Blue Regiment
Here is the beginning of my new project. A FOG Early Royalist ECW army. The reason I have selected this army is because Charles was not adverse to sending his boys to the continent prior to the English Civil War, so they could double as a 30 Years war army as well. Also I wanted to paint up some more cavaliers!
The figures are a Warlord plastic kit, supplemented by the outstanding Warlord metal command pack. I intend on repainting the flag when I arrive upon a suitable motif! The bases are made from Laminex sample cards- a good mate put me on to these and I am eternally grateful. They are thin and easy to cut down to size. On top of that, they are durable and if you place the laminex side face down, you have a smooth surface to move across the table and a wooded surface ready to take the glue for basing. I almost faltered and lost my ECW painting mojo and fell into the trap of diverting to another period (being my Norman project). Luckily tigerzouave set me straight, and I am painting again with a vengeance!
Next up on the painting table is the "red" regiment and another Saker Cannon.
