Little Wars Canberra 2015

Here are some photos from Little Wars Canberra - it was a fantastic to see so many gamers enjoying themselves and showing of their superb miniatures. The variety of games being played was excellent. It was also really good that five traders were present. All in all it was a great day for the hobby. Ian, Leigh and I were really happy to have organized the day and look forward to doing so again next year.

28mm Scythian Noble cavalry - Achaemenid Persian allies

Hi All,

I've just finished two units of Scythian 'noble' cavalry from Wargames Foundry. They are to join the allied contingent of the ancient Persian horde I'm gathering.

As we know, these non-uniformed types tend to take a lot longer to paint because each figure is unique. It gives the completed mass a pleasing tribal and irregular look.

I plan to use them for To the Strongest rules. Either as two smaller units or a larger group as needed.

Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Cheers,
Mick

French Revolutionary Infantry

I have finally finished painting the French Revolutionary Era minis I have had sitting in a box for several years. Here they are. Of course as with all things, it can't stop here, I have to buy more!

Old School Citadel Wood Elf additions - Forest Dragon & Attack Chariot

Here are a couple of models that I've recently completed.

These were both incomplete and partially damaged sets that I managed to acquire reasonably cheap. With a combination of gathering spare parts and patience both models have come together fairly well.

The Attack Chariot is a lovely classic 80s model but it had several broken and missing pieces. Luckily, the chariot itself was structurally sound and could be restored to bring it back to its former glory.

The 90s Forest Dragon has a replacement tail end, tongue and repaired wing. I found a suitable Lord figure to tie it together with the 1980s style of the existing army.

Hope you enjoy the photos.

Cheers,
Mick

28mm Wars of the Roses - Slow progress....

Hi All,

This is another side project that I've put another week or so of time into. Taken me about 2 years to get to this stage!

I've just finished 12 stands of mounted knights and thought it was enough for a decent group shot. Probably overkill on the mounted knights but they look pretty cool. Part of the process was replacing all the lances. Nothing sadder than seeing heavy knights with stumpy and bendy lances!

Most of the figures I've picked up second hand and repaired and repainted. I like the idea of reconditioning old figures and giving them new life. I particularly like the old Grenadier 'Fantasy Warriors' human range that fits WoTR really well. There are also some old Foundry/Citadel and Essex figures.

I need a few command stands and some more infantry and it should be enough for a modest Lancastrian army for 'To the Strongest' rules.

My trusty camera pooped itself after one photo so I had to use the phone camera for these...

Cheers,
Mick
