I hosted a wargame of Regimental Fire and Fury ACW rules last night. The figures were all 25mm/28mm from my collection including Dixon, Mark Fenlon, Foundry, Redoubt and Sash and Saber minis. The game involved five Union regiments and three guns attempting to push aside three Confederate regiments and two guns so that they could continue their advance against the flank of the main Confederate army which was notionally off the table in the distance. After some hard fighting the Confederates managed to weather the storm and were victorious. Here are some photos of the table I put together as well as some of the figures that took part in the game.

ANZAC DAY 2011
Here are a couple of 54mm figures I made a few years ago as a tribute to the blokes who fought on the Kokoda Track in 1942. The figure on the left represents a typical militia man of the 39th Battalion. These blokes were citizen soldiers literally dropped in the way of the Japanese with minimal training and antique weaponry. Their job was to hang on and slow the Japanese advance until the experienced soldiers of the 2nd AIF, returning from Africa and the Middle East, could get to them. The figure on the right is a typical soldier of the 2nd AIF one of the battalions who trekked up the track in appalling conditions and reinforced the militia in a series of brutal battles with the advancing Japanese. We owe a lot to the actual blokes who did this and to all the other soldiers, sailors and air force personnel who served in all the wars Australia has been involved in over the years and are currently involved in. On this ANZAC day 2011 I hope that my small offering here goes some way towards commemorating their service.

28mm WW2 COMMANDO PERSONALITIES
Here are Warlord Games 28mm WW2 British Commando personality figures. I got these last week and finished painting them today. From left to right they are Lord Lovat, Lovat's Piper Bill Millin and Major (Later Brigadier) Peter Young. Very nice figures, full of detail with excellent animation and proportions.

Airacobra - Death from the Sky!
Racing low through the tropical clouds the Airacobra swoops down on its prey. With a devasting blast from its machineguns and cannon it rips the enemy infantry and jungle below it to shreds. This photo was taken at a wargame played on Sunday. The model is a plastic 1/72 scale Airacobra and the figures are 28mm Japanese infantry. Photoshop was used to tart up the image.

Warlord Royalist Cavalry- Sir Monty's Cavaliers!
Here is another completed box from the Warlord Pike and Shotte range. These figures are from the Royalist cavalry which happens to be the same as the Parliamentarian box, just with different artwork! I wanted my Cavaliers to have a bit more dash and style than those in the set (and reality). So I have added a few flourishes here and there. I have used some Redoubt helmeted heads that I had lying around and with creative use of greenstuff and some parts left from one of the infantry box sets, I have added some feathers and 'puffy' sleeves. I have based these up for FOGR.
These gents are now ready to chase some roundheads fom the field of battle- never to return! The flag is hard to make out in the photo- but it depicts two bones in the shape of a cross. Just what Sir Monty likes best!
