Here are some 28mm Empress Miniatures Spanish Civil War minis that I have just finished. I have always been interested in the SCW and have a large collection of 20mm/1/72 scale SCW models, but recently decided to indulge in the 28mm offerings from Empress. These are delightful figures and look excellent when painted.

28mm SUDAN - DERVISHES V. BRITS
Yesterday the Valiant Stormers had their monthly meeting at the Soldier's Club in Goulburn. A number of games were played amongst which was a glorious 28mm Sudan game using masses of Perry 28mm Sudan minis and playing with the Black Powder rules. Here are some photos of the game which was a spectacular affair.

A SUNDAY AFTERNOON DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY
A line up of my 1/50 scale metal diecast toys. All the AFVS with the exception of the T62 leading the procession are Solido as is the Dodge with the 106mm RCL. The T62 is a Polistil model. The Toyota with the 23mm AAA is from Imprint models. The single figure is a Black Scorpion mini which is a big 28mm (almost 30mm) that gives you a scale for the vehicles. 1/50 fits nicely with the bigger 28mm minis. The is also a Eureka Minis 28mm figure in the last two pictures which is the smaller of the two figures.

VIKING LORD
Here is my latest Viking Lord - painted last night. This is a Foundry mini. I replaced the sword the mini was cast with with a nice big axe. I enjoyed painting this fellow and can't wait to get him onto the tabletop to build a fearsome reputation. Interestingly this mini is a big mini - more than 30mm in height, a good buddy for the Reaper figures that I have.

Well chaps, this operation will knock Jerry for a six
"Well chaps, this operation will knock Jerry for a six..I have a cigar , a webley and 12 rounds, the big bloke has a tommy gun and has lost his cap, we have two stens, a bag of explosives ,a fellow with an MP 40 and one magazine, but no doubt a lot more ciggies, and a chap who is unarmed, carrying a bulging breifcase and a set of golf clubs..yes Jerry is never going to forget this raid"

Another Firelock Storming Party
Here is another firelock storming party made by warlord Miniatures. The drummer and officer are both metal and are really superb miniatures. Next up on the ECW table is a unit of dragons.
THE JAMES-YOUNGER GANG
Here are some images of my latest indulgence! These magnificent 40mm figures are sculpted by Australia's own Mike Broadbent and sold by Eureka Miniatures. I'm not really into western gaming, but love the story of the James Younger gang and their exploits and the mythology which has been created around them. Were they Southern heroes or hardened criminals? They would make great figures for a game which features the Northfield Robbery. The aim of the gang could be to get out of town before the civilians shoot them! Anyway, enough flights of fancy. They are great figures to paint up and are still available through Eureka and make a great diversion from painting ECW figures.

ISANDLWANA GAME FOR CANCON 13 - THE MOUNTAIN
I am hosting a 28mm Zulu War Isandlwana game at Cancon 13. I have almost finished making Isandlwana mountain which will be a backdrop prop for the game. The mountain is not fully rounded as it is intended to sit on the edge of the the British end of the 12' long table down which the Zulu Impi will storm. Here are couple of photos to show you what the mountain will look like. The figure and tent are 28mm which gives you an idea of the size of the model.
