A while ago some buddies and I played a game using The Disposable Heroes WW2 rules where we had six German tanks up against 24 Russian tanks. We used 20mm scale models on a big table. The Germans fielded three Tiger 1 and three PzIVs. The Russians had mostly T34 76s but there were also some SU76s. It was as you can imagine a big challenge for the Germans. The end result though was something of a draw as by the end of the game the Russians had not obtained control of the village which was their objective, although they came very close. When the game finished most of the German tanks had been knocked out with the exception of one Tiger and one PZIV which ended the game inside the village with Russians a stones throw away. The Russians lost about one half of their force. These images are pure propaganda but they give you an idea of the game and of how close and desperate it got at times.

THE LATEST CARDBOARD HOVEL
Still making hovels for my 40mm skirmish project. This was was started yesterday and completed today. Foam board, corrugated cardboard, aluminum tubing, ice cream sticks, white glue, model railway ballast, and acrylic paint all went together to make this. I made this one with a removable roof so that the interior could be used.

40mm MINIS RPG LESSON IN AN ALLEY
The latest hovel for my 40mm modern skirmish project. This charming abode was made this afternoon, all from cardboard with an aluminum chimney pipe. The vehicles are 1/43 scale models from Russia which I have repainted. The figures are all HLBSC 40mm modern Africans. I guess the moral of this little montage is that it is really dumb to drive down narrow alleys in bandit country unless you clear the way first.

A COLD AND WET WINTER AFTERNOON
It was cold and wet here in Canberra today, so what better way to spend the time but in making buildings. I need to make some buildings big enough to use with my 40mm Modern minis and so set to doing so. Using little cardboard packing boxes as the basis for the models I added some corrugated paper and first made a shed. Then I decided on something a bit grander and set to making a two storey building. I want to make generic "third world" style buildings and this one could be the local police station, or post office or whatever. I put some election posters on one of the walls to give it that lived in feeling. Once that was done I just had to pose some of my figures about the new buildings. I eventually want to make enough of these to cover a good chunk of a 6x4 table, which will let me stage some interesting skirmish games for my 40mm lads.

Ladies and Gents
"Oh no my dear...I hardly know the young lady." The travails of a gentleman with a wandering eye caught out by his ever watchful wife. Foundry ladies and a very nice figure of a Gentleman the origins of which are unknown.
"I say old chap, kindly leave those ladies alone!" Some Foundry ladies and a gent with a cane, confronting a Redoubt, or is he Dixon, scallywag.
